Fat

This true story is entirely fictitious.

A friend I knew was shopping with his girlfriend, which is always a bad idea. While she was tying on a dress, he was reading a magazine or a newspaper. (I don't remember which one.) He found an article that really interested him and when his girlfriend came out to show him the dress she was concerned with he was too engrossed to realize what she was saying. She asked him if the dress made her look fat and because he wasn't paying any attention he asked her "yes?" meaning to convey that she had gotten his attention. She misunderstood of course and it led to an argument, which ended in his buying her the dress. My friend still has the receipt from the dress. It cost $149.95. To this day he's convinced that she did it on purpose.
